Spend the summer on the scenic shores of Seneca Lake in the heart of the Finger lakes Region of Western New York. Camp Whitman is licensed by the New York State Department of Health, and is inspected twice yearly.

Aquatic Director
- June 23–August 15, 2008
- Salary: $2,500 plus Room and Board
Minimum qualifications:
- Minimum of 21 years of age & a high school graduate or equivalent
- Experience in working with children and youth
- 3 years of experience in a waterfront position
- Current Water Safety Instructor, Lifeguarding, and CPR, and First Aid certifications
- Knowledge in pool management
- Ability to give and accept guidance and supervision
- Ability to schedule and supervise staff
- Ability to work with a diverse camper population, including Developmentally Disabled
- Physical stamina, sense of humor, patience and self control to perform duties

Job Responsibilities
- Set up pool, and waterfront areas during staff training.
- Supervise all pool and waterfront activities.
- Train staff in responsibilities for aquatic activities, during staff training.
- Evaluate aquatic abilities of staff and campers.
- Conduct daily checks of equipment in area for safety, cleanliness, and good repair; and train staff in use.
- Work with others during special events (i.e. early morning swims & other special requests)
- Submit orders for equipment and supplies when needed, ensuring their timely arrival.
- Make determinations, in consultation with the Camp Director, whether pool and/or lake are safe for activity, when conditions warrant.
- Follow State guidelines to provide safe aquatic environment for campers.
- Take breaks in coordination with other lifeguards.
- Participate in general planning of all aquatic activities.
- Conduct initial and end of season inventory, storing and keeping equipment in good condition.
- Supervise lifeguard staff in writing lesson plans that foster participants’ aquatic skills.
- Help campers adjust to waterfront and pool activities.
- Serve as a good example to campers and staff in personal language, appearance and health habits, following all policies and responsibilities as found in the Camp Whitman Procedures Manual.

Camp Counselor
- June 23–August 15, 2008
- $2,000 plus Room and Board
Minimum qualifications:
- Minimum of 18 years of age and a high school graduate or equivalent
- A sincere Commitment to the Christian faith and outdoor ministry
- Experience in working with children and/or youth
- Ability to work with a diverse camper population, including Developmentally Disabled youth and adults
- Good health that enables one to live and work in a rustic outdoor setting for eight weeks
- Enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience, and self-control
- Ability to accept guidance and supervision

Job Responsibilities
- Live with a group of campers (including Developmentally Disabled youth and adults) on a 24-hour basis and (with a co-counselor) provide basic supervision in the living unit, at program areas, and in the dining hall.
- Take 2 hours of break time at the Program Manager’s discretion during daylight hours.
- Participate in general planning of camp activities with Program Manager, Weekly Volunteers, co-counselors, and camper input.
- Relate to each camper to ensure their adjustment to camp and participation in camp activities.
- Serve as a good example to campers in personal language, appearance and health habits.
- Follow all camp policies and regulations as found in the Camp Whitman Procedures Manual.
- Primary responsibility for implementing camp curriculum. This may involve sharing your faith journey and facilitating small group discussion and worship experiences.
- Maintain open and constructive communication with the entire Camp Staff.
- Maintain good public relations with camper’s parents.
- Carry out established roles in enforcing camp safety regulations.
- Communicate regularly with the Program Manager and the Camp Leadership Team to carry out camp program, and to identify and solve problems.

Lifeguard

- $1,900 plus Room and Board
Minimum Qualifications
- A minimum of 18 years of age and a high school graduate or equivalent
- Experience in working with children and/or youth
- Training and experience in waterfront activities
- Have current Lifeguarding, CPR BLS First Aid, and Waterfront certifications
- Ability to relate to one’s peer group
- Ability to give and accept guidance and supervision
- Ability to work with the Developmentally Disabled
- Physical stamina to perform duties

Assistant Cook

- $1,800 plus Room and Board

- Prior food service experience preferable.
- Ability to work with a diverse camper population, including Developmentally Disabled youth and adults.
- Physical stamina, sense of humor, patience and self control to perform duties.

- Help insure cleanliness of dining hall and kitchen area.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
Dishwasher
- June 23–August 15, 2008

- Must be at least 16 years old
- Food service experience helpful, but not necessary
